I suppose that most people who have booked a flight to the UK would probably have been in touch with the Travel Agent or the Airline to check on their flight details. Not me. I’d booked my flght last November for Monday 30 July and so I’d be flying home on Monday 30 July – right? Wrong! I contacted Flight Centre on Tuesday, as I hadnt received my tickets (yes leaving it late I know), but was told that Korean Airlines had pulled the flight. I had been issued a ticket to Seoul for 31 Jul – ah but wait – that was it, she had to get back to Korean airlines and would call me tomorrow! Although I didn’t yet have a ticket from Seoul to London, I didn’t worry too much, it had to get sorted out.
I got a call from the Agent on Wednesday with the revised details and realised that it wasn’t that bad, I would still get home on Tuesday night, just a few hours later, and the main change was, I wouldnt have an overnight layover in Seoul. I could live with that, it’s not as if I would have had time to go sightseeing anyway. So what about the return journey – had that changed. What do you think? Yes, that had been pulled too and I was scheduled to come back a day later. Well I didnt want to come back a day later, because for some stupid reason, I was worried about being away for too long. The agent told me that I could get back on my original date, but I had to leave London on Sun at 10am instead of Monday at 7pm – which in fact was basically two days early (in my eyes anyway) – and it included a 15 hour layover (5.25 am – 8pm). On my drive home I thought about it and realised that it was daft to leave the UK early and cut my holiday short especially as I had made plans, so I might as well return a day later. I ran it past Maria when I got home, and she didnt hesitate in her opinion – I had to come back a day later, spend as much time at home as possible. So there we have it, flights rearranged and I could relax knowing my flight tickets would be issued on Thursday. I now just have to work out how I am going to get from Gatwick into Lewisham at 11pm on Tuesday night. Well that can wait for another day.
